The Mexican Riviera came calling when G Social traveled south to Playa Del Carmen and was given unprecedented access to this wonderful resort which is sure to wow whoever makes the trip. The Thompson Hotel has two properties in Playa, one called the Beach House, which is located… beachfront, and somewhat away from the hustle and bustle of this exciting location, while being only a couple of blocks away from the action. The beach house is the perfect spot to relax, have a fantastic meal at its restaurant, The CGrill, helmed by award-winning chef Daniel Manzano. He created a fresh menu focused on wood oven-fired favorites and regional specialties, makes it easy to enjoy its famous hospitality from morning to night, and keep your toes in the sand or lounge by the pool and indulge in its signature dishes for the best in beach resort dining. However, this is just the beginning; the other location is smack downtown Playa where all the restaurants, bars, clubs, and shops are located. The tallest building in Playa features the one-of-a-kind Catch restaurant (a relative of its famous cousins in New York City and Los Angeles) where the rooftop experience is just superlative. Situated right next to the pool, it is an unbelievable place, worth the price of admission. However, the nightlife is not the only thing worth this trip south, and a rich history characterizes the region. We visited Maya temples and ruins, the best natural lazy river we’ve ever seen, and a wonderful community, where we shared an authentic meal. Let ‘s say that the trip was too short, and we will have to come back!
