Carlsbad, Ca. — It’s great to have the fans back on the grounds this year. With no surprise the local favorites Lizette Salas and Danielle Kang drew the biggest crow to follow them along as they played their first round at Aviara Golf Club.
Having an afternoon tee time the conditions were not as favorable as they were hours before for the morning wave. Lizette carded an even par 72 with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys for the day. She shared with us after the round that her putting was not feeling the best and was hard to not see her ball start on her intended line, specially on a few birdie looks. Danielle finished strong birding the difficult hole 18 to add to her previous 4 birdies and with only one double on hole 15 she carded a solid 3 under par 69. This was one of the lowest rounds for the afternoon wave.
After the round Danielle shared that she is treating this week as a practice week to get her game where she feels ready for next week’s first major at The Chevron Championship. There is an adjustment period as they make they way back from Asia and she is taking her time to build her game up as the season continues.
We are sure the local crowds will keep gathering and supporting them as they continue their journey at this year’s tournament.
