The 35-year old veteran Rafael Nadal wins over the up and coming teenager sensation from Spain, Carlos Alcaraz. And keeps his clean slate with 20 consecutive wins on 2022.

“Since the beginning of the season it has been amazing all the things that have happened,” Nadal said. “A couple of months ago I didn’t know if I would be able to play professional tennis again, and here I am after a month and a half enjoying every single day.”

The stage was set for the battle between the two spaniards  at Stadium 1 inside the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

This match was a special one as Nadal seemed to be playing his younger self. Pound for pound Alcaraz seems to know where to be and how to play back to have a fighting chance to come on top.

It all came down to a few points as expected where Nadal raised to the occasion one more time to take the win in just over 3 hours under tough conditions to move into another BNP Paribas open on Sunday against Taylor Fritz.
